OpenAeros develops cutting-edge, novel solutions to respiratory threats.
Maintaining respiratory health in an increasingly hostile environment is one of the most pressing challenges we face. We are up against the transmissibility and effects of infectious disease, unprecedented wildfire smoke, and pollution exposure resulting from climate change and fossil fuel dependency. Masks and mask fit testing devices are some of the only interventions we can readily deploy against this adversity.
OpenAeros was founded to apply novel and critical solutions to air quality and respiratory health concerns, making open source hardware designs for the world, so everyone can benefit from the work. We aim to tackle the problem from both sides, making mask fitting globally accessible, but also producing masks that do not need fit testing.
We are for clean and safe air, transparency in measurement and development, and betterment through collaboration. We are centering equity in distribution, empowerment of today’s citizen scientists and professional engineers, and a public engaged in addressing the air quality challenges we face.
OpenAeros aims to give individuals, businesses, medical systems, and governments worldwide open source and low-cost tools to ensure that life-saving respiratory health measures are working as effectively as possible.
